Lexi Davis: Bordeaux vs Vancouver

Image
Since arriving in Bordeaux I have been looking for similarities between Bordeaux and Vancouver and it took me over a month before I found any…The first similarity was when I went to the movies; the movie theater was larger than Silver City and the movie was in English. I highly recommend going to the movies if you are ever feeling homesick!   The second similarity I found was going to a Euro Football game (soccer). Alex, Chiara and I attended a Bordeaux soccer match on the weekend and we sat (well stood, because no one sits during the game) in the section that was equivalent to the “South Siders” at a White Caps games. Both Bordeaux and Vancouver a major sports cities; you can find a lot different sports being played at INSEEC and around town. There are also a lot of places where you can watch international sports game. There were quite a few Super Bowl Sunday parties last weekend.  These are a couple of the similarities that I have found between the two cities,

LOVE don’s in the Air Song of the day: Happy Birthday to you The Capilano University 2015 London Field School had an amazing final day, soaking up the culture of Britain. Today was a special day for many reasons; first because it was the last full day in London, second, it was Valentines Day, ❤ and finally, it was one of our leaders 21 st birthday! We started the day at Hampton Court Palace, where King Henry XIII and many other Kings and Queens have resided. Later, we enjoyed an authentic British fish & chips lunch before heading to a professional Football game, (otherwise known as soccer). This football game was a huge highlight and demonstrated the major cultural differences between two countries that otherwise seem very similar. As we neared the stadium we heard a roar of the crowd chanting; we were still blocks away and could not even see the stadium… but it was easy to find it by the noise! Once inside, we were immersed by the game and atmosphere with

Song of the Day: London Bridge by Fergie Life is an adventure so pretty much take in the scenery every chance you get. When we planned our trip for the day we had an idea of exactly how the day would go. We would start off at the University of Greenwich meeting one of the business professors there, then head over to Ernst and Young to meet with Robins sister for a tour and to learn about what they do. This all of course did not go as planned, we needed to roll with it and go with changes that are unexpected. We took longer than expected at the University and thankfully, with the support of Peter who was the instructor, got a train that would take us to EY much faster. We learned a lot about time management and compromise. It’s not easy leading a group of 22 people around a city that you do not know that well. There is so many places that you can go and many different directions that sometimes making things up on the fly is the easiest way to go. With so many undergroun

Song: “Sing” by: Ed Sheeran Activities: University of Hertfordshire, Kings Cross, Harry Potter: Platform 9 ¾    Day five of the London Field school and we are still going strong! On this day we made are way to the University of Hertfordshire to visit some of the students that are on an exchange program from Capilano University as well as the Master of Science students who are studying in the joint degree program with Capilano University and Hertfordshire.  As the daily leaders for this day we found that the cultural differences were very noticeable during are travels to the university. On are way to the school we had to brave the rushing crowds of King’s Cross station. As a group of Canadian university students who are use to the “not-so-crowded” streets of Vancouver and aren’t afraid of the word “sorry” the aggressive, fast paced British are difficult to understand. While at the school, our group gained insight into the life of typical
